Accessibility and Permissions
To work seamlessly across all your applications, Yoink AI needs certain system permissions. It uses these to retrieve the context of your active window and to insert suggestions directly into your text. These permissions are typically set during the initial onboarding process.
Accessibility
The Accessibility permission allows Yoink AI to read non-sensitive information about the active application and insert text on your behalf. This is essential for Yoink AI to write and edit directly where you are working.
If this permission is disabled, you can re-enable it by following these steps:
- Open System Settings.
- Navigate to Privacy & Security → Accessibility.
- Find Yoink in the list and ensure the toggle is enabled.
Screenshot
The Screenshot permission allows Yoink AI to take a screenshot, which provides context for a prompt. Yoink AI does not record your screen at any other time. This allows you to ask questions about images, charts, and other visual information.
If this permission is disabled, you can re-enable it by following these steps:
- Open System Settings.
- Navigate to Privacy & Security → Screen Recording.
- Find Yoink in the list and ensure the toggle is enabled.
While you may still use Yoink AI even without Screenshot permissions, Yoink AI will lose the ability to gain visual context, which is important, particularly in cases where there might not be as much text context.
